Montreal, Canada – Several artworks from May’s contemplative Memory Compression series were featured in the recent RGBMTL event, which took place from August 22nd to 23rd, 2025. The inclusion of May’s work was curated by Kika Nicolela, head curator for the influential digital art platform Objkt.

RGBMTL is an annual gathering that celebrates the vibrant and diverse digital arts community, with a particular focus on artists utilising the Tezos blockchain. The event is distinguished by its collective curation model, where a selection of artists are invited to curate the work of their peers, fostering a collaborative and artist-led showcase.
May’s “Memory Compression” series explores the aesthetic and conceptual implications of digital memory and data compression. The works, which are available as a collection on Objkt, investigate the often-unseen algorithmic processes that mediate our contemporary visual culture. Through a process of digital manipulation, May highlights the subtle artefacts and systemic signatures left behind by compression algorithms, transforming them into the central focus of the artwork. This approach aligns with the artist’s broader practice of examining the intersection of art, science, and technology, and the impact of digital systems on human experience.
