ArchaeaBot at Ars Electronica Festival 2018
· exhibition
ArchaeaBot premiered at Ars Electronica in Linz, introducing its underwater robotic life-form to an international audience.
Alex May and Anna Dumitriu premiered ArchaeaBot: A Post Climate Change, Post Singularity Life-form at Ars Electronica Festival 2018 in Linz, where the work appeared as part of Error in Progress at POSTCITY from 5 to 10 September 2018.
The premiere established ArchaeaBot as a major collaborative work within May’s practice. By bringing together archaea research, underwater robotics, and machine learning, the installation opened a speculative space around future life, damaged environments, and the persistence of memory beyond the human. The presentation also included an artists’ talk during the festival programme, helping frame the work’s questions for an international media art audience.
