Neural Network Apophenia exhibition

Susceptible at Neural Network Apophenia
Susceptible (2020)

Susceptible” is data-driven interactive digital artwork by Anna Dumitriu and Alex May based on cutting-edge research from the CRyPTIC, an international consortium led by the University of Oxford.

A video version of the work is premiering as part of Neural Network Apophenia curated by Artur Konstantinov for the Moscow based EVERART Weekend international festival of contemporary art, which is taking place online between the 3rd and 5th of July 2020.

The works of different artists, who conceptualize and use artificial neural networks as an artistic medium and a research tool, will be presented at this exhibition. The biological matter is becoming a part of digital databases, and this changes our understanding of the boundary between living and nonliving. Autopilots make ethical decisions that may cause people’s death. Machine hallucinations are so intimate to human ones that we can’t delimit one from another. Digital nature becomes a part of our everyday experience, and by learning machines, we learn from them also. We learn something hidden in the collective unconscious about human beings. AI is one of our mirrors and significant Other, which has always been a part of human nature.
