Exhibition: Touch Nature at Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz

The Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz is currently hosting “Touch Nature“, a multimedia exhibition running from January 24 to May 18, 2025. This exhibition features international artists addressing the profound political, economic, ecological, and humanitarian impacts of the Anthropocene. The showcased works not only document environmental challenges but also propose visionary solutions for a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.

Among the diverse artworks is “Fermenting Futures“, a collaborative project by Anna Dumitriu and Alex May. This piece delves into the cultural and aesthetic dimensions of yeast biotechnology, highlighting its historical significance and future potential. Created in partnership with experts from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, the project underscores yeast’s pivotal role in various biotechnological applications, from food and beverage production to vaccine development and environmental sustainability.

“Touch Nature” is inspired by a series of exhibitions presented across 12 Austrian cultural forums in Europe and the USA, where Austrian artists engaged in creative dialogues with local counterparts. The Lentos exhibition distils this series, offering an overview of how contemporary art addresses the climate crisis and environmental degradation. It embodies the spirit of Alexander von Humboldt, who emphasized the importance of experiencing nature first-hand.

For those interested in the intersection of art, science, and environmental discourse, “Touch Nature” provides a compelling exploration of these themes. The exhibition is open until May 18, 2025, at the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz.
